The Opportunity 

  • Outstanding newly-created opportunity: spearhead new business initiative targeting the Pacific Northwest shipyard market. 
  • Manage distributors plus direct sales.

What You’ll Do 

  • Be the company expert in all things relating to serving the marine market. 
  • Identify and strategically target the highest potential opportunities to win new business. 
  • Work closely with existing channel partners, government contractors and subs to develop complete programs, including both product and service/logistics. This includes building and maintaining effective relationships with multiple stakeholders at all levels across the various organizations as well as internally. 
  • Target additional new customers in the west coast Naval and municipal shipyard sector. 
  • Ensure all requirements are met for supplying government contractors (Company is not a Gov contractor but customers are). 
  • Directly drive new business opportunities throughout the sales lifecycle. 

 

The Profile 

  • Minimum of 5 years experience selling industrial consumables / services into the marine industry: you understand the stakeholders, processes and wider program elements beyond a commodity sale.  
  • Proven success as a strategic sales hunter and relationship builder is ESSENTIAL– you know how to open up and win share in new markets, and have successfully built up sales in new territories or with new product lines. 
  • Experience working with distributor channel partners is a strong plus but not essential. 
  • Familiarity with NACE / AMPP / Military QPL standards & certifications in the context of marine corrosion mitigation is strongly preferred (e.g. coatings, coatings inspection, surface prep). 
  • Understanding of Government contract process & requirements is strongly preferred. 
  • Plenty of initiative and entrepreneurial attitude – you make things happen, not just watch them happen. 
  • Willing to travel overnight up to 50% of the time. 
  • Positive attitude, collaborative style and a good sense of humor are essential.
