North American Sales Manager

The Opportunity

• Join a vertically integrated plantation forestry business, producing plywood and other timber products in Ghana and Sierra Leone, West Africa, with a headquarters in London, UK.

• Help to develop the Company’s sales strategy, product and price offering in the North American market to maximize long-term revenue and profit margins with a major focus on plywood.

• Substantial opportunity to grow and develop without a ceiling, subject to positive performance.

• Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, this position is expected to be located in the USA and able to cover the entirety of this market as well as Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean.

• Competitive Salary with Bonus up to 100% Monthly Salary based on agreed sales targets.

What You’ll Do

• Help to develop the Company’s sales strategy, product and price offering in your market to maximize long-term revenue and profit margins with a major focus on plywood.

• Build and promote strong, long-lasting customer relationships, carefully understanding their requirements and ensuring delivery to expectations.

• Identify new export and regional markets and customers.

• Achieve agreed sales targets by successfully developing customers & leading the sales team.

• Manage and oversee the objective-setting and performance of any sales agents.

• Utilize the company’s CRM system ensuring all relevant information pertaining to customers, potential customers and sales leads is maintained and regularly updated, and that transaction documentation (invoicing and receipts) are correctly generated and issued.

• Present sales, revenue and expenses reports and realistic forecasts to the Company’s management team as required.

• Coordinating agents, importers, and/or end-buyers to achieve sales targets for this region, with the support of Company’s leadership team.

The Profile

• Minimum of 5 years in the North American timber products industry (ideally in panels / plywood) in a sales or trading role and will have an existing network in this market and region.

• Strong history of developing new business from a low market presence/visibility position: you enjoy the detective work of prospecting to uncover new opportunities and targets, not just being given a ready-made list.

• Entrepreneurial mindset and emotionally mature – comfortable wearing many hats, do-what-it-takes attitude – you enjoy taking ownership to get results and thrive on the challenges and ambiguity of a high-growth environment.

• Good sense of humor is essential including the ability to laugh at yourself – emotionally mature

• Willingness to occasionally travel to Company’s Africa operations and London headquarters, as well as visiting customers and attending shows across this region.
